NWCSAF/GEO v2025.2 Package Download
Important Note
The NWC/GEO v2025.2 is distributed in a set of separated packages. Some of them (SW packages) are mandatory and must be installed in order to execute the application. Other (Data packages) are only required to process a specific satellite.
Please, important to keep in mind: From NWC SAF/GEO Software v2025 onwards, the nwp_confi_file file expects by default 25 levels instead of 15 as in previous versions. What does it mean? The NWP files must include 25 levels because it is going to ask to have 25 levels. In case you want to use only 15 levels, the nwp_confi_file MUST be changed. Here you can find a nwc_conf_file with 15 levels.
The users must download: The two packages of NWC/GEO Application (CODE-SYSTEM and CODE-COTS), the installation script of the NWC/GEO Application in the format requiered, and the packages of Auxiliary Data needed in each case (depending on user's needs). It's not necessary to download the NWC/GEO Tools packages to run the software.
Please, note:
An updated COTs file is provided to include the upgrade of ecCodes library from ECMWF from version 2.30.2 to version 2.42.0.
Following the ECMWF changes planned for late 2026, versions earlier than 2.42.0 will stop working.
It is highly recommend that users look at the user manual where the installation process is detailed in depth.
RTTOV Licence
The RTTOV SW from NWP SAF is embedded into the SAFNWC/MSG SW. As a consequence of it, previous to the NWCSAF SW package download, it is mandatory to request the RTTOV v13.0 licence from Numerical Weather Prediction SAF (NWP SAF). To become a licensed user of RTTOV, please register with the NWP SAF (or login if you have already done so) and add RTTOV to your list of software preferences at the following URL.

In the frame of the NWC SAF project, an easy-to-use tool (NWCPY) has been developed in charge of reading NWC/GEO output products in netCDF format and generating a graphical representation of a certain variable in a GIF file.
